Introduction to Puzzle Mugs
Puzzle mugs are an interesting variation of porcelain manufacture. As you can see in the pictures below, they have holes in the side of the mug. If you try to drink from the mug in the normal way your beverage is going to run all over you.
Obviously there has to be a way to drink successfully and the key is to think like a straw. There will be a hole under the top side of the handle. If you cover it with your finger it seals the opening so the first hole on the rim of the mug, to the left of the handle, becomes a straw.
As an incentive for finishing your drink, the bottom of these mugs frequently features a lithophane of a buxom female nude. You can see her when you hold the mug up to the light and I have indicated places where I have included one of these pictures.
